Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 19, 2026
Nightingale (“Nightingale,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit onenightingale.org (the “Site”) or make a donation.
We built this organization around confidentiality and safety, and we hold your information to that same standard.
Information we collect
- Donation information. When you donate, we collect your name, email address, donation amount, and billing details needed to process the gift. Payment card details are entered directly on Stripe’s secure checkout and are never stored on or transmitted through our servers.
- Contact information. If you email us or submit a form, we receive the information you provide (such as your name, email, and message).
- Usage information. Like most websites, we may automatically collect limited technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device, and pages viewed, through cookies and similar technologies.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone we work with as a survivor through this Site. Survivor services are provided confidentially through partner agencies, not through this website.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process and acknowledge your donation and send a receipt
- Communicate with you about your gift or your inquiry
- Maintain records required for tax and accounting purposes
- Operate, secure, and improve the Site
Payment processing
Donations are processed by Stripe, Inc. Stripe handles your payment information under its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS security standards. We receive confirmation of your donation and the information above, but not your full card number. See Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only:
- With service providers who help us operate (for example, our payment processor, email/receipt provider, and website host), under agreements that limit their use of it
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Nightingale, our donors, or others
Cookies
The Site may use cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and, if enabled, anonymous analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some features.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.
Data retention
We retain donation and contact records for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described above and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements, after which we securely delete or anonymize them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to opt out of certain communications. To make a request, contact us using the details below. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message.
Children’s privacy
The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

The Site links to other organizations’ resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party sites; please review their policies.
